Parkway Plastic Surgery News

Dear Friends:

Many of you have been informed that Dr. Rebecca Glasser has resigned from Parkway Plastic Surgery. She has decided to move out of state. We wish her nothing but the best. In the interim, I have been taking over care for all of her patients.

I am pleased and excited to announce that Dr. Jaime Ranieri will join my practice in January, 2013. Dr. Ranieri grew up in upstate New York. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Buffalo. She earned her medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse. She then spent the next eight years at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she completed both her residency in General Surgery and her Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  She has been employed with Shands/UF since 2007 starting as Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She became Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2010.

Dr. Ranieri is currently board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ranieri enjoys all aspects of plastic surgery. She has a particularly strong interest in breast surgery, including breast reduction and breast reconstruction, as well as complex breast revisions after both breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast surgery. She also enjoys body contouring procedures, including liposuction and breast lift.

We are now taking appointments for Dr. Ranieri. She is credentialed with almost all insurance plans and offers free consultation on cosmetic procedures.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jamie Ranieri to our practice. We trust that her addition will allow us to not only meet, but exceed your expectations. Should you have any questions regarding this announcement, please do not hesitate to contact any of my staff at Parkway Plastic Surgery.

Thank you,

David Mobley, M.D.

On October 5th, we will be having our third annual charity fashion show benefiting The Donna Foundation.

Every day in our community, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend learn they have breast cancer.  Their thoughts become about surviving the journey they will now travel to heal physically and emotionally.  Unfortunately for some women, their focus becomes “how will I survive financially”?  This was what inspired First Coast news anchor and three time breast cancer survivor, Donna Deegan, who so graciously shared her own personal struggle publicly.  Donna has brought such awareness in our community to this disease and celebrated many accomplishments with The Donna Foundation.  All the money raised stays right here in our local community to assist those women with breast cancer with their most critical needs. .  Now in our 9th year, the Foundation has assisted over 5,000 women and raised over $2,000,000.00.

The Donna Foundation has partnered again this year with Parkway Plastic Surgery  to host the 3rd annual “An Evening on the Pink Carpet” to be held at the Florida Theatre on Friday evening October 5, 2012.  Dr. Rebecca Glasser of Parkway Plastic Surgery has once again invited her patients who have undergone breast reconstruction after mastectomy to model fashions from various local stores and boutiques.  Donna Deegan will also be on stage and modeling at the event.  If you have not attended the fashion show event in past years, you missed a great event!  This was a very emotional and uplifting event as it gave a group of women a chance to express themselves onstage and redefine themselves as someone other than a breast cancer survivor.  The past shows have been such a tremendous success with both men and women attending.

The success of this year’s event will be credited largely to our sponsors and contributors.  By participating as a sponsor, your organization will lend its name and financial support to the event and so appropriately in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We have several levels of sponsorship packages as outlined. You can select the level of participation that best meets your needs, and be secure in the knowledge that your sponsorship fee will be used to help The Donna Foundation continue its mission of “Caring for Women Living with Breast Cancer”.

We’re counting on your support!  PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS TODAY AT PARKWAY PLASTIC SURGERY!!!!!

Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the efforts of The Donna Foundation and make a difference in your community!

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals. Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Aging
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Heredity
  • Prior surgery

Tummy tuck surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

Abdominoplasty is a good option for you if:

  • You are physically healthy and at a stable weight
  • You have realistic expectations
  • You do not smoke

Although the results of an abdominoplasty procedure are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. For this reason, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies may be advised to postpone abdominoplasty surgery.

What a tummy tuck won’t do:

Tummy tucks are not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Also, tummy tuck operations cannot correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised, generally the treated areas below the belly button.
