BOTOX INJECTIONS
Botox© Cosmetic is FDA-approved and has been used safely for more than ten years by our medical providers at Parkway Plastic Surgery of Jacksonville to treat a variety of cosmetic conditions. The popular injectable targets the facial wrinkles and frown lines that accentuate an appearance of being tired, angry or stressed. As one of Nature's most potent nerve blockers, this purified protein is used in low doses to relax overactive facial muscles and remove unwanted signs of aging and sun damage.
Cosmetic injections are typically administered in the upper third of the face as a temporary treatment for forehead wrinkles, frown lines between the eyebrows and crow's feet around the eyes. Once the Botox solution takes effect, your face will appear more youthful and your skin will be free of fine lines for three to four months following the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox
Can I Get Injections the Same Day of My Consultation?
Yes. After a quick review of your medical history, your medical provider will explain the procedure and take the time to answer any questions that you may have. Once you've signed a consent form, we will take the "before" pictures to help track your results. A numbing cream will be applied to ensure the injections are as pain free as possible. Based on your personal goals for improvement, your medical provider will inject the Botox solution at several pre-determined locations using very fine needles with only minimal sensation and discomfort. Most patients remark that there is little to no pain and compare the sensation to a bug bite.
How Long Before I Will See Results?
Results from Botox injections start within five to seven days, and last three to four months. Some patients experience minor swelling or temporary bruising of the injection sites but these effects disappear quickly. Overall, your facial expression will appear more relaxed but not like you just had major cosmetic surgery.
How Often Will I Need Follow-up Treatments?
After the initial treatment wears off, wrinkles and fine lines will gradually revert to their pre-treatment appearance provided no further injections are given. However, a routine treatment plan using Botox© Cosmetic has become a very popular option for our Jacksonville patients who wish to manage the signs of facial aging without having to undergo more invasive plastic surgery. Our medical providers will work directly with you to determine the best timeline for follow-up appointments for you to maintain the results that you want. Typically, Botox is repeated every 3-4 months.
Is Botox Really Safe to Use for Repeat Procedures?
Yes it is. For years, there has been a tremendous misunderstanding about Botox and the fact that it is a derivative of the same organisms that can cause botulism poisoning. Botox© Cosmetic is scientifically-altered so there are no living organisms present in the dermatological product. In fact, the Federal Drug Administration has approved the cosmetic use of Botox for treating fine lines in patients between the ages of 18 to 65. It is, however, advisable to have your injections administered by a physician or nurse practitioner at a reputable clinic to lessen your risks of improper dosing or infection.
