Parkway Plastic Surgery offers a number of Aesthetic Treatments to keep you looking your best.

RADIESSE

RADIESSE® is an injectable, volumizing facial filler comprised of calcium-based microspheres in a natural gel used for volume restoration and skin rejuvenation. As you age, the tissues that keep your skin looking young and supple begin to break down. Unfortunately, the negative impact of aging and years of exposure to the sun's damaging rays tend to show up first and foremost on the face. This can leave you looking older than you feel with an angry or troubled expression.

Similar to using hyaluronic acid, fat or collagen-based fillers, our medical providers can administer Radiesse gel injections that provide an instant increase in skin volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, folds and other skin contours. However, when Radiesse is used to augment soft tissues, the base component of filler stimulates your body's own natural collagen production. So, Radiesse injections can produce results that are fast, effective and longer lasting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Radiesse

Are Radiesse Treatments Safe?

image of a womens wrinkle-free skinYes. As is the case with all products prescribed by our medical providers at Parkway Plastic Surgery, Radiesse has undergone rigorous testing in clinical trials and studies to receive its FDA-approval. Unlike collagen injections, there are no requirements for allergy testing as the gel's substances are naturally absorbed by the body. Occasionally some bruising, temporary firmness or swelling will occur but is usually minor. Any redness or tenderness that appears in the injected area usually disappears within a couple of days. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately.

What Is the Injectable Gel Made Of?

The volumizing filler is made of tiny, calcium-based (calcium-hydroxylapatite) microspheres suspended in a natural water-based gel. Calcium hydroxylapatite is very similar to minerals found in the body which decreases the risk of an allergic reaction. Once the skin absorbs the gel carrier, the tiny microspheres create a scaffolding effect that stimulates the treated areas to produce new collagen growth. The skin's foundation is rebuilt resulting in a youthful appearance that lasts longer than traditional hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. In fact, the process can last up to twelve months.

How Do I Know if I'm a Good Candidate?

You don't, that's up to your medical provider to decide. There are many factors to consider in determining the best procedure to produce the results that you are looking to achieve. It is important to tell your medical provider about any medications or supplements you are currently taking prior to treatment. In general, men and women who have experienced a loss of volume in the face or those looking to restore balance to their facial features are good candidates. Since Radiesse treatments do last longer, your medical provider may suggest starting with a more temporary filler to ensure that you are happy with results before committing to a longer term solution.
